Disciple Making Movements (DMM) Level 1

Training for both men and women, with male/female team of trainers/coaches.

“We know from Scripture that there will be a final generation. Will we be the final generation?”

-Steve R. Smith, Movement Catalyst, Beyond.org

Steve R Smith, a Movement leader, has stated the pertinent question which compels our hearts as disciples of Jesus, when it comes to the fulfillment of the Great Commission, “We know from Scripture that there will be a final generation. Will we be the final generation?”

This training is an opportunity to gain understanding of the biblical patterns of Jesus, which when implemented in dependence upon the Holy Spirit and God’s Word, are leading to these movements of reproducing house fellowships of disciple-makers.

DMM Trainers:

  • Rhonda and James serve with Beyond.org (SEAsia Regional Leaders, DMM catalysts). She and her husband are engaged in Disciple Making Movements among 3 Muslim UPGs, as well as serve in coaching roles for movement efforts among various other UPG Clusters.

Recommended video and reading prior to this training:

  • Read through the gospel of Luke. Make notes: What did Jesus do? What did Jesus command the disciples to do?

  • Watch the following video on Disciple Making Movements overview:

https://beyond.org/videos/

Resources recommended (optional) prior to DMM intro training:

(Follows the story of DMM implementation among IndoMalay Muslims)

  • Bhujpori Breakthrough: A Movement that Keeps Multiplying

Sending Movement Servants - The Changing Role of External Workers in Movements

An intermediate DMM support course from members of the Focus on Fruit (FoF) team, Dono and Karina.

As God continues to answer our prayers and begins to release movements in many UPGs, (foreign?) field workers with a few or with many small groups of believers start asking new questions:

1. What is the most effective use of foreign workers in places where movements have already been started by nationals?

2. How do we help very fruitful nationals who have too many groups to lead on their own?
3. How do we help very small movements grow into bigger movements?
4. How do we help hundreds or thousands of believers who have no mother tongue scriptures?
5. How do we mobilize people who weed and water and fertilize movements, not just people who want to plant one?
6. How can we use media and tech skills to empower movements for discipleship as well as evangelism?

Join us for three days exploring the new roles of movement servants that need to be sent out by agencies and churches to multiply the harvest once the "first fruits" have been won. Learn direct lessons from Karina, the mentor of a women's movement, and Dono, a trainer and movement servant.

We will walk through issues faced during the first six years of a women's movement that grew during and after Covid-19, and now includes men.
We will examine roles of movement servants in multiple nations and contexts.
Our learning time will draw on the experience in the room, and include significant field stories and experiences.

Making Disciples of Oral Learners

Did you know that approximately 80% of the world’s population are “Oral-Preference Learners”?

Mark 4:33-34 Jesus used many similar stories and illustrations to teach the people as much as they could understand.  In fact, in his public ministry he never taught without using parables…

Is your ministry hitting the brick wall of literacy and culture?  Are you willing to adapt your communication style to match that of your target audience as you “become like” those you are reaching (1 Cor 9:19-23)?

“Oral-Preference Learners” prefer to share and pass information, knowledge, and history through oral communication.  Many of them cannot read or write, while others simply prefer non-print forms of communication.

Jesus was a storyteller!  Join us for a 3-day training where you will learn how to use Bible Storytelling and other Oral Strategies to reach the unreached.  SIU’s Bridges training will focus on understanding Oral Cultures and how to use Jesus’ own strategy to enter new areas, evangelize, disciple, plant churches, and train leaders all through storytelling and oral methods.  You will experience the power of God’s Word in a new way and learn practical skills that are highly reproducible in the states and overseas.

Scriptures in Use equips and empowers local, indigenous leaders to reach their own communities and nearby people groups with the Gospel in their native language.  The Bible stories come to life for entire communities through Bible storytelling and discussion, drama, music, dance, and poetry.  Disciple making and church planting movements are organically starting and growing as believers memorize and share these Bible stories (2 Timothy 2:2).

Scriptures In Use has been a leader in the field of orality since the 1980s, and by the grace of God, our indigenous partners have planted 110,000+ churches in 75+ countries using these Orality Strategies.
